Queen of the Peak, Tofino’s beloved all-women’s surf competition, is back September 27–28, 2025, and the stoke is building fast. Celebrating its 14th year, this iconic west coast event brings together athletes, artists, ocean lovers, and an entire surf-obsessed community for a weekend of competition, connection, and coastal celebration.

A Contest With a Purpose

Queen of the Peak was created with a simple but powerful mission: to elevate and showcase women’s surfing in Canada. Today, it’s one of the most anticipated surf contests in the country—drawing fierce local talent, up-and-coming juniors, and international riders to the beaches of Tofino.

The two-day event includes Shortboard, Longboard, and Princess of the Peak (18 and under) divisions, offering multiple platforms for surfers to show off their style, strength, and wave knowledge. But this event is about more than trophies—it’s about building community, breaking barriers, and inspiring the next generation of wave riders.

The Week Leading Up

Queen of the Peak isn’t just a weekend. Leading up to the contest, you’ll find events happening all over town:

  • Pre-Comp Workshops on September 10 & 17, hosted by Surf Sister, give competitors (and non-competitors!) the chance to brush up on heat rules, strategy, and surf etiquette.
  • Blue Crush Movie Night on September 22 will transform Clayoquot Sound Theatre into a throwback 2000s dream—with prizes, costumes, and all the surf cinema nostalgia.
  • Lucky Logger Invitational on September 26 pays homage to old-school logging—leash-less longboarding, golden tickets, and a whole lot of style.
  • And on September 25, competitors will gather at Shelter Restaurant for the official welcome night, where heats are revealed and friendships are forged.
On the Beach

The main event kicks off on Saturday, September 27, with heats running all day from 8:00am to 5:00pm. Sunday brings the finals, with Canada’s top women surfers going head-to-head for the crown. Whether you’re cheering from the sand or tuning in via live stream, the energy is electric and the surfing is world-class.

Celebrate the Stoke

To wrap it all up, the QOP Dance Party takes over the Tofino Legion on Sunday night, September 28. Open to the public (19+), this is where the entire surf community lets loose—celebrating the athletes, the volunteers, and another year of pushing boundaries on Canadian waves.
